Cultural Contribution Scholarship
All undergraduate international students (F-1 and J-1) automatically receive the cultural contribution scholarship their first semester. If international students want to keep this scholarship after the first semester, they must:
- Keep a term GPA of 2.5 or a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Have a valid F-1 or J-1 immigration status
- Successfully earn at least 12 credit hours each semester
- 25 hours of cultural contributions during each semester when you receive the scholarship
“The International Student Association (ISA) is student-run senate where international student organizations participate,” Dr. Anne Dahlman explained. “ISA puts on events and partner with other departments to highlight countries.”

“We do not concentrate on just 1-2 regions,” Dr. Dahlman explained when it comes to how the university recruits international students. “The philosophy of our university is to bring students from all corners of the world to Mankato. We use word of mouth and have staff specialized in certain areas to help students get acclimated. We are very diverse for being in southern Minnesota.”

“We have six trained immigration advisors to support students in feeling at home on campus and in a new country, in addition to an assigned academic advisor for each student from their major,” Dr. Dahlman shared.
