Medical students are now looking more closely at New York University since it announced that they will offer full scholarships to medical students. The scholarship covers tuition for all current and future medical students, a cost of more than $55,000 per year.
It doesn’t matter a student’s financial need or academic performance, if you are accepted and enrolled in the MD program, you’re set. Currently, there are 442 medical students enrolled in the MD Program at New York University, of which 102 are new for fall 2018.
The scholarship does not cover room and board or any other additional living expenses for medical students. Students can select an accelerated three-year program or the traditional four-year program.
According to a survey conducted by the Association of American Medical Colleges, in 2017 about 75% of medical students graduated with an average debt of $191,000. University officials at New York University said the cost of medical school can prevent students from pursuing a medical career. By eliminating the costs, they receive the best applicant pool and cultivate future doctors who possibly could be the future leaders of their field.
